SA House by S | A Architectural Partnership in Mexico
October 15th, 2010 - Posted in Contemporary HouseSA House, the chic private residence design was designed by S | A Architectural Partnership fuse old and new design styles with tried to integrate a modern house design style in a context where colonial and traditional building materials are the main architectural elements of city and environment design. S | A Architectural Partnership found that most appropriate solution was to use natural elements like stone and cantera from around the town, travertine marble, black cantera and Tzalam wood; all these materials combined with white walls as the canvas and steel framing resulted in a high end contemporary residence design for a modern family.
The SA House is located in Queretaro, at El Campanario Golf & Country Club, Mexico. This home design area is considered the most famous and exclusive of its kind in a city where architecture design of Colonial has prevailed for almost 400 years. This contemporary house in a traditional city is located on property that was heavily damaged by erosion with a height difference between its highest and lowest point of about 18 feet; as a consequence the design consists of various platforms or sub-levels that integrate all the different spaces that were required by the home owner. An important aspect in the SA house design was to highlight the points of view in the lower part of the property where an ecological reserve, a small artificial lake and many acres of greenery, beautiful landscapes appear in the hills.
All service rooms in the contemporary home interior are arranged on the first platform or ground level, such as the garage, laundry, storage rooms and cleaning areas. Also, the access porch and a small entry hall give us a warm welcome to the contemporary house design. Passing the staircase and a walkway with a view to an outdoor patio, there is a big double height foyer that forms the center of the project and works as a connecting point between public and private spaces. Over this platform lie the great room (dining or living room), a cozy family room, an elevated terrace and a spacious kitchen area. Most of these rooms have views to the central patio where an old Sauce tree projects its shadow during summer days.
All the private spaces such as the home master bedroom and the kids’ and guests’ rooms are located on the house second floor and are connected through a corridor with views to the patio and foyer.
